ARTS AND EDUCATION LOSE OUT
Many courses at London Metropolitan University within Humanities, Arts, Language & Education (HALE) are earmarked for closure, including performing arts. I am a graduate of the BA performing arts, it is a unique degree that gives a 360 education in performance and creates practitioners that are able to stand on their own two feet within the professional world, LMU performing arts students are sought after within the professional theatre world because of their work ethic and standard of excellence in their work. The lecturers are exceptional and I wouldn’t be back there doing my PhD if it wasn’t for the staff.
Crippling this department will only cripple society as a whole as fantastic lecturers lose jobs and students lose the right to an education. LMU caters to a wide range of students, of various backgrounds. Diversity and difference is what creates a well rounded society. Arts contributes to the fabric of a growing and developing economic society and needs to be nurtured.
